Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education - PRIDE - is a model for the development and support of families in adoption and fostering. The PRIDE pre-service program is a nine module, 27-hour training which is interconnected with the SAFE homestudy process.  The PRIDE curriculum covers the following areas:

Session One: Connecting with PRIDE

Session Two: Teamwork Towards Permanency

Session Three: Meeting Developmental Needs: Attachment

Session Four: Meeting Developmental Needs: Loss

Session Five: Strengthening Family Relationships

Session Six: Meeting Developmental Needs: Discipline

Session Seven: Continuing Family Relationships

Session Eight: Planning for Change

Session Nine: Making an Informed Decision: Taking PRIDE

These new models provide a structured standardized framework for preparing and assessing families wishing to adopt.  These same programs are being used in Children's Aid Societies in their adoption and fostering programs.

Effective January 1, 2008, persons wishing to adopt must complete the PRIDE training program.
